    it’s nearly impossible to not give my boat a little throttle assisted “nudge”.

    I agree. There’s a difference between a slight nudge and throttling way up to push the boat forward and creating a rooster tail at the access point. Individuals that are pushing their boat halfway up the trailer using power with the motor trimmed down are the ones creating this wash out and berm.

    Some accesses are going away from the traditional railroad style concrete footings now. I’ve seen some newer ones that are a big straight slab with drain canals instead. Although I’m not sure how far into the water they go, so there could still be a wash out and berm beyond it.

    Learn how to power load and it’s not an issue. There is a reason pro fisherman drive to about 2 inches from the eye. Jump out crank not even a full circle and leave.
