Everyone I really appreciate the responses and I’ll take all this information in. I’ll definitely be stopping in the DNR’s office and talking with them about this. The lake is small being only 530 acres, with a max depth of 18′ which in most of the lake its under 12′.
Yes, the cold front and overcast did not seem to help, and I didn’t really know if that would push them off the beds.
Over harvest is over harvest I understand that, I’m just saying that this time of year, the ease to find panfish in big numbers that are feeding or aggressive is the problem. I’ll have to look more into having a conversation about the 10 panfish limit. I like that idea.
Haha, and yep, we have 10,000 lakes to fish, and I’m blessed to be in an area where I can access hundreds of them, so, after 5 years of fishing this lake pretty hard, I am off to start expanding my lakes I have seen become quite popular.
It’s too bad we can’t share a good bite with people without them going out there and keeping every fish they can. I’ve always tried to help people out and been pretty loose lipped, but after seeing what people talking can do, I’m going to have to change things up.
Yes this was a bit of a rant knowing that there is not much I can do unless laws change, but again, I was after the knowledge on how harvesting certain size fish, and the detriment it can have on certain bodies of water if fishing pressure took it’s toll. Great information folks.
Thanks again everybody!
