The center rod locker has 6 tubes that will hold 7″ rods (it’s claimed), a side compartment has 4 tubes that will hold 10′ rods.
Below the jump seats on the starboard side is the starting battery and standard 3 bank, 10 amp charger. It’s still new to me so forgive me for not remembering what’s under the port side jump seat.
I pushed water (just before going on plane) to Lake City for break in. Great day for that with reported 25 mph winds and what I call 2 foot waves, what others that saw my video say were 3′ waves. Right after testing out the trolling motor, as I was adding throttle a good wave just barley washed over the nose. It was a very pleasant ride as long as I didn’t look at the water around the boat and ask WTH am I doing out here!
I know for a fact that I would not be out there in that “walleye chop” had I been in my green boat.
Remember, I’ve been a tin boat guy for a very long time.
On the way back, I opened the SHO (whatever that means) up until it reached 43 mph. I backed off once I realized I was airborne. I’m not an air plane pilot so I like to keep the hull on the water.
I can’t say how it rides to other glass boats. I have nothing to compare it to, but I was shocked at the ride. I liked it.
That motor jumped that piece of fiberglass up on plane much fast then I was use to or expecting. I didn’t time it but from dead stop to on plane might have been 5 seconds or less.
Once to the head of the lake the water and wind settled down some. I found Pink Floyd’s song MONEY on YouTube and turned up the Bluetooth sound system…rocked out to Covill.
I was a little surprised at the 150. It’s louder then I thought it would be. Being a 2 stroke guy, it was quieter then my Merc 90 but still louder then what I expected. Again, nothing to compare it to.
The FW was happy that it came with the bimini top. I’ve heard it does get hot during the day and it’s a standard feature.
My problem with it is that when it’s laying down in the back of the boat, we can’t use the jump seats. If the motor is tilted all the way up (think transom saver) the bimini’s frame will hit the motor preventing it from be lowered or raised.
If the frame is kept in the up right position as in the photo it’s not a bother until it’s time to put the cover on.
Not a big hassle, more of a learning curve.
Uncover boat
Take out transom saver
Lower motor
raise the frame
and go. The top can always be removed and stored in your garage but I know that’s where it will be when I want to use it.
All the above are first impressions. I’m happy (excitedly happy) with it after the first 3-4 hours in it.
Hopefully we’ll have some good weather soon where I can get the FW out in it for her impressions. They are generally MUCH different then mine.
