Let’s hope the sky’s are clear tonight!

“The outburst is forecast to reach its climax around 11:50 p.m. EST on Nov. 21, according to the AMS.”

“One of the most prolific meteor storms in recorded history unfolded on Nov. 17, 1966 when onlookers witnessed many as 40 meteors per second, or 144,000 meteors per hour, according to the AMS.”

Clouds are supposed to clear out around sunset in the metro area. I will walk out of the hockey arena around 10:30 pm tonight. Perfect timing.

A nap and meteor shower in the same day? Now that’s living the dream!

Anyone get a chance to see anything? I stepped out around 10:30 and couldn’t see the sky.

Nothing at 530-630 this morning that I noticed driving in. Clear skies north of the metro.

Crap. I fell asleep. But it sounds like it was pretty cloudy, eh? So I didn’t miss much?

Granted I’m in Mpls so light pollution and all but there were so many clouds I couldn’t see a thing. Tried to watch from 10:30-11 and nothing but clouds. Bummer as I was excited to see it

Just saw an article that said it was more low key than expected. What was anticipated to be 400/hour was only about a dozen that lasted for about a half hour.

I went out shortly after the Wild game. Nothing and it wasn’t totally cloud cover. Just like this past summer I never seen the predicted northern lights and we would be up at the lake when they were supposedly to be brilliant.
Next day wife would see pics on FB of beautiful northern lights less than 10 miles away from us. ???

Unless they have a higher KP# most northern lights in Minnesota can’t be seen by the unadjusted naked eye. Cameras with long shutter times are the only way to pick up their brilliance. The best way to maximize your chance of actually seeing them is to turn off and get away from any light source (most importantly your phone) and let your eyes adjust to the darkness(minimum 15 minutes).

Those aren’t northern lights you see. That’s your neighbor shining his flashlight at you while you lay in your underwear on his kids trampoline…

No, it’s the ice castle owners firing up their strobe lights before the ice season.

Drove from Minnetonka to East Bethel from 10:40-11:30. Nothing but clouds all the way.

The only shooting stars I saw were when I took a tumble down the stairs last night.

I’m good. A little sore at hockey but no injuries.

The worst pat was that I was carrying the little guy down the stairs when it happened. I stepped on his blanket he was carrying. He landed on top of me so he’s came out unscathed.

I appreciate the concern and I hope you’re doing well.
