looking for a easily removable and not heavy fish finder on the cheap.

leave a small open boat tied up decent walk to. looking for depth if has water temp would be nice but not necessary.

any recommendations? have seen ones that c clamp on the transom was thinking of getting.

One option is an ice fishing flasher. Either float the transducer over the side or lay on floor in a small puddle of water. Should shoot through the hull for a depth reading. Buy a digital food thermometer for under ten bucks for water temp.

You can get a portable Humminbird Piranha max with case, battery and transducer for $175 on Amazon. I use that transducer on my helix 5 in a genz box and it works great on canoes and small boats. It also has a temp sensor. Not sure if that fits your definition of cheap.

Do you have any smaller 5-7″ graphs on your boat? All you would need is a vex battery, transducer, graph gimbal mount and a new power connector.

Bird, lowrance, garmin all make stuff for ice fishingvthat would adapt to their existing units.

I take my HDS 7 off my boat in the winter for ice fishing.

assuming you already have a compatible phone or tablet I would give a look at the Vexilar Sonarphone setup. Does depth and temp and marks fish pretty reliably.

About $160 for the version with a portable suction-mount transducer. Also works in conjunction with Navionics and you can even create your own bathymetry maps.

The weight would depend on the battery you choose.

thanks for the tips. going to toss the vexilar in for now on. Regular boat has a graph, but our setup is where the dock is the bottoms soft couldn’t have a lift it would sink so last year I got a 14′ 1967 lund off craigslist for $300 I just leave down there don’t have to deal with getting rain on carpet or tarping it or anything.

I’ve spent more time fishing out of the little boat this year than the regular boat. earlier was working the shallows and weedlines assuming depth finder will help once fish start moving out a little.
