The forecast for pool 2. Going down and then right back up. I have a feeling the first crest was just a little warm up to want this next one will be. My armchair river forecasting skills predicts a crest of 21′ for this next one but I may up date after tomorrows rain.

Any word from Willies if their ramp will be open this week?

Havent been down that way in a while. Wouldn’t be surprised if Willies still has their launch blocked off as they most likely know they are not out of the water yet. Heard last week that the parking lot at Mississippi river pub was under water. That might pop out this week for a little while. Not sure of what condition the Spring lake ramp is in.

last i heard, was a couple trucks were buried on the road down there yesterday.

might wanna try that one without a trailer first, just to make sure its doable.

Todays forecast for pool 2. Think I will stick with my original prediction of 21′ for this next crest.

Checking river forecast daily. Sometimes more than once a day. Sturgeon fishing is a good past time for April Jason. Sounds like launching on pool 3 at Prescott might be doable to.

Looks like the next crest will be Next Wednesday at 19.5′. Hopefully after that it will all down hill again and hope to see some open ramps by about the 20th of April.

That sounds about right, Mike. 2 weeks away seems so long, esp when we have this beautiful weather.

When did everyone get their first ‘post’ flood trip on Pool-2 last year?

Good luck to those headed north chasing Sturgeon

Was just looking back on reports from last spring. Looks like plenty of action taking place on pool 2 in mid April. Here is my last Sturgeon report from Rainy River on 4-17.

    Mid april Sturgeon.

Here is my 1st report from pool 2 on April 30th. Im sure I had a few trips in before the 30th and from the looks of the report the walleye bite was going strong by then. The fish Jerry is holding is the 1st 30″er we caught last year.

    Pool 2 April 30th Report.

Hope that helps came you down a bit Pete. I know Im ready to go.

I don’t remember when the first trip was…but I recall having a hard time finding fish at first in the high water….but after fishing in it all season … I hope I can get things going faster this year.

Side note … how does a guy get water temperature for P2?

    DIDN’T HELP!

    Jason,
RiverGauges normally has it however it looks to me like something isn’t reading right as it’s labeled ‘M’ (missing), unless I’m overlooking something.

You can get a reading at the Hastings Dam from the Army Corps site, here.

What a difference a year makes. I want to say we had like 5 or 6 weeks of fishing in last year before Hi-water shut us down.
I think I’ve made it out in the boat 3 times this year… I will say the shore-fishing has picked up this week some…

There is a football field sized current break behind Navy Island going all the way to the bridge that is just begging for some casts.

This weather and high water combo is just killing me! I’m even stooping so far as to go to the Musky Show tonight just to kill some time!
My hooks can’t get any sharper. Everytime I go out in the garage with a file in my hand I hear little screams from the tackle box!

I wonder if the spring lake access is possible.

I’d guess not. Being a shallow access already, I cannot imagine what it’s like in floodstage.

Being on the north facing hill I would think it may still have snow and ice but at this point I would go give it a look. Has any one been to Willies lately to see if they are open yet. I see the crest is going to be about a foot lower than predicted.

I would think Willies is 2 to 3 weeks out still
