Just read this, apparently they are trying to put in a fish barrier or whatever to stop “unwanted fish” from getting in the upper ms. If they’ve gotten that far what the hell is the point in stopping them from going further really? Also, AFAIK there is no lock at this place, what is the point in spending 17m on a dam where fish can’t even get up if they wanted?? One of the comments on the startrib article claims that they’ve seen “schools of asian carp” below the dam trying to get up.. Anyone believe that?

Well, they can jump fairly high.

On the East side, is there a steep ramp or does it have falling water (no turbines) where it would be impossible for them to get up?

Can Anoka County pick up the tab for this one?

Nope! They have to buy the rest of us a Viking’s Stadium.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and venture to say the shore-fisherman will do a better job of keeping those fish from getting upstream than anything the DNR can come up with.

Yeah, but as most team owners will tell you….IT AIN’T MY OWN MONEY!

Now, back to the regularly scheduled program and talk of carp.

Makes me feel better about the WI DNR and The Nature Conservancy pushing to spend $15M on your fish ladder at L&D #3 and #2 by 2025.

    Go Team!!

Technically speaking, all carp are asian carp.

But you know they could be for real. I mean, I once found baby flathead catfish swimming in the riffles on the west side.

Pug I heard baby flathead catfish are great deep fried. Was that BK I heard that just screamed?

So the bighead I saw on pool two last year was not the result of too many beers?

Anybody ever wonder how fish get into farm ponds that have no inlet or outlet? Could it have something to do with ducks and other birds? Can you promounce the word “Hitchhikers”?

See?! This is what happens when they don’t have Carpfest at the CRD for a couple years. I told em this would happen, but would they listen? Nooooooooo!

The dam has an overflow channel and there is a gate that is not very steep. Im sure fish could swim up.

i have seen massive schools of carp under the dam into the thousands all grouped up and i see em tryin to jump up but these are just regular carp not asian carp.
not sayin it isnt possible theyre up there but i have never seen one with my own eyes and have fished there a good amount.
