Ive been away from the site for a while. Wondering if Everts is open, or if its even in Redwing for that matter. And hows the bite been? Should I be bringing ringworms yet?

Everts is actually in Hager City and yes the ramps are open. When your at Everts pick up some minnows you’ll need ’em
nordPosts: 738February 16, 2011 at 5:32 pm #938084I was over on Monday, and the bite was terrible to say the least. Next time I will call Dean first.
February 16, 2011 at 5:35 pm #938087Thanks for the sauger dinner Jesse…I had half of them Sunday evening and I’m guessing the other half sometime this weekend.
…and stop telling people about the minnows!!
February 16, 2011 at 5:45 pm #938093I should add there were many that felt it was a tough bite, but there’s always some that figure it out…or at least luck out.
Just look at River Dan!

Could have sworn you did….as the phone has been non stop.
Yes not on fire by any means. However it is less crappy then Mondays bite! To us it feels like prime time March. We are seeing signs of improvement, but bear in mind,it is mid Feb,34 degree water temp and clean water….

somtimes i rather be lucky than good
February 16, 2011 at 6:27 pm #938107My apologies, I guess I meant heading out on Saturday. Is there a launch charge??? And what kind of cookies gets the best fishing info?? Also, what hours are you open? Id love to give you my business rather than a public launch.
February 16, 2011 at 6:28 pm #938108I hate to say it but now is the time of year when you can learn something out there. When you are catching fish one after the other it is hard to work on patterns or presentations but right now you have to think about everything to put fish in the boat. I got my butt handed to me Saturday but after I got home I was laying in bed and it hit me what I was doing wrong. I would bet I can go out tomorrow and at least catch a limit of keepers with one small change to my presentation. I won’t say what it is until I try it but what I am saying is to not fish when they aren’t on fire is to miss out on some good learning experiences. The time will be here soon enough when a limit in the livewell and a bunch of throw backs will be very common so we need to enjoy this time of year and take what Mother Nature has to offer. I know I am seriously considering getting a bad case of something tomorrow and missing work to test my latest theory
February 16, 2011 at 7:55 pm #938139I agree with redneck. The only thing you gain by only fishing when they are jumping in the boat is a false level of confidence in a particular technique. Then when it counts we don’t change it up because it worked so well before.
HACHOO!!!! sniffle sniffle, cough, HACHOO!!! Damn cold, I must be getting the same thing that redneck is getting …a bad case of Muddy Miss Fever

Vikefan…we do have a launch fee of $7. It is possible that the WI backchannel landing might be useable by then? That is no charge, but does have some limitations if you are by yourself.
Now that we have that covered, fresh home baked is key, and counterfeit freezer burned or store bought is not in your best interest!
Hopefully our bite will pick up a bit by then!

No mention on quantity…. I need to tell the wife how much to make!!
February 16, 2011 at 8:54 pm #938163Amen Redneck!!!!!
I was sleepless Sunday night, learned so much Sunday not catching a thing-already have a plan for the next trip—now I hope the water stays cold and things stay crappy just so I can try a few new things.

Am I mistaken that neither Redneck or Doc brought baked goods? Just sayin…..
wkwPosts: 730February 16, 2011 at 11:27 pm #938200Vikefan,
Bring 2 week old donuts if you want. These yahoos act like “donut connosewers” ( I spelled it that way on purpose)
but they’ll never know the difference.
But DO go to Everts to unload ! You will not like the Wis. channel ramp. $7 is cheap compared to banging around on the rocks with no dock…
Just sayin…

WKWFebruary 16, 2011 at 11:35 pm #938203Wife just happened to make some fat chocolate chippers yesterday. Thanks for the help guys. One last thing. What time does your launch open?
February 17, 2011 at 12:29 am #938222Since I’m opening on Saturday….what time do you want it to open?
Coffee will be done at 6 am…possibly earlier if you like.
…and I’ll hold the chippers until Dean gets there.
