Lake Pepin Ice

    Can anyone tell me what the ice is like on Lake Pepin? There was lots of open water at LaCouplis on Sunday.

    HI John

    The lake is still largely covered but it should be considered very dangerous. We’ve had a bunch of rain lately so ice conditions should be progressively getting less stable and ice-out shouldn’t be that far down the road.

    Nate and I drove down to the head of the lake Sat. and we could see open water for what looked like down to where the Rush River comes in. The rest of the lake is frooze over but I wouldn’t want to trust it. Bill

    I was actually down there on Monday. Got a tip from James for fishing late ice pike. I DID see a guy off the point by the Lake City Marina, but I would not encourage anyone to go out on that ice. Did not look good.

    i’m back……from my fishing trip in way northern wisc. fishing was good! when i went into work today I had 2 people tell me there ice house’s whent through the ice….one was on lake zumbro and the other on the back waters down by wilcox…..to much rain!!! stay off the ice…we like having you on the message board!!!

    Saw some folks on the lake just off the marina point today. Either the ice is better than it looks, or the fishing is good…..anyone know what they are catching out there?
