Gates at the Dam

I had a great communication the other day with a guy who works for the USACE.

My main question was about the height of the gates.

He gave me this site–and I know many use other sites, but I found it interesting.

If you click on Lock 3, a menu will appear. At the bottom right corner a # sign is there to show you the log sheet. On page 1 log sheet it shows the gate settings. If the number is 99.0 that means the gates are out of water. Any other number is the gate setting in the water.

I’m sure others will chime in with their favorite river lock and dam sites as well.

    Good Luck out there!

Lock #3 has to be the friendliest Lock on the Mississippi!

Except for my Favorite Cousin that works there….

Well…. Guess who is NOT going to get any of the cookies I bake for Dean???

And for all you other NICE IDO’ers out there – the gates will probably go back in the water by Thursday…. maybe.
