Waterfowler and I are most likely going to be there Sat morning…have things improved at all lately??
The reports I have been seeing are a little dismal. Doesn’t matter too much though because it will still be better to be on the river than sitting home.

    Buckshot,

I was out yesterday and have not got around to putting up a little up-date on the bite. I guess the following will be it!

Things are still slow but fish can be caught. I had a tough day on the walleye but had some nice sauger make it to the boat in the 20″ to 20.5″ on 4″ shad bodies. Ringworms in the pro-blue color took better numbers of fish for me in the 16″ to 18″ range. Tried minnows as well with no biters making a showing.

I have been spending a all of my time in the 20′ and shallower depths on the past few trips waiting for those piggies to go . I see the guys out in the deeper water surrounding me catching lots of fish but they are all on the small side with an eater in the mix every so often.

I have noticed in the last week, days with some sun have been showing a better bite than cloudy days. Today we had some good sunshine so we’ll have to wait for James to post an update on today’s bite from the Resort

Well… I won’t say that the fish didn’t bite for some but for most, it sounded quite slow. Lots of smallish saugers with occassion decent fish. 1 boat would report 3 or 4 legals and the next none. There’s still some boat out yet but I just can’t call the action solid today from what I’ve been able to gather. If I hear different, I’ll post up and let everyone know about it here.

Only 24 more more hours to go as “resort guy.” I hate being the resort guy.

    Bite me “Meat Man.”

I talked to the last 3 or 4 boats to come off the water. Tough bite reported all around. I was expecting to see some of the last guys off the water to have some good / better reports but it was just more of the same.

Nope. I figure you’ll sit there with that dorky look on your face and just take it.

I hit the river yesterday as well…..It was slow for me as well……but the fish I did get were decent! interestingly I did not get one sauger…..but i was fishing quite shallow….In the end I probably would have caught more fish deeper, (Only ended up with 4) BUT, smallest was 16 inches and the biggest was just over 20 inches. Nothing great! BUT! It was great to play hooky and get the boat wet again!

    On a second note…
That was the first time I met “Resot Boy” on dry land, and, I just have to say that he is super stand up kinda guy! He was very helpful as far as picking good colors, and he even talked me out of a sale on some jigs! So! Hats off to you James! And next time I will see you on the river!

I’ve known “resort boy” for four years now. I personally can’t say enough good things about James. He is class act and one day we will all be able to say we knew him back in the day of a humble fishing site, providing quality information to us “weekend anglers”. James is a great writer, phenomenal speaker and one heck of a fisherman!!

Heck…the resort is still in one piece. The “resort guy” did a pretty good job it appears. Thanks a ton buddy!

As far as fishing. I will have to echo most of the comments I have just read. Most people are reporting poor to fair reports. Seems to be more of a smaller fish thing right now for the most part. I did go out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon. A buddy and myself managed 9 walleyes from 16-19 inches, so I was pleasantly surprised. Purple and blue hairjigs put a couple in the boat. Purple/white ringworm got 1 and chart-pearl K-grubs got a couple and sonars got a few as well. We didn’t really have dominant bait and tried lots of stuff. Never did get a sauger. Fished mainly 6-12 feet and were casting.

I have only been back 2 days, but the water made a drastic change since last night as far as level and clarity. The trimbelle is running a lot more than yesterday. When I left, I could jump across it, now it is the whole width of the channel there. And the water coming out of it is dirty. I am seeing a little bit of debris on the river as well. Nothing too big, but the water is coming up. It has only come up a few inches…..3-4-5 inches or so. But this should get things going I think!

Well back to catching up on the forums. (I had 542 unread messages on the general discussion alone! ) Better get busy.
