Spent last week at the camper. A little sultry to say the least. Bass and pike were ultra tough with very few good bass and zero pike The panfish on the other hand were on a good bite. Looking for pad fields with coontail mixed in along with a touch of flow was the main key for bigger gills. Casting ice jigs like the moon-glos tipped with a piece of crawler was all you needed but the main key between boating big orange bellys instead of the typical watch fobs was a bottom presentaion. Straight lining a 10ft. stick and barely dragging bottom kept the larger gills interested. On a bright note……..the population of ring perch on ten has absolutley exploded. Hundreds of small orange fins were boated through the week. Literally every weed edge was loaded. Very few good ones caught but the future looks bright.

Here comes the water…….and weeds again. The pool is on the rise again and looks to hold steady at the 12ft. range. Walleyes are going to be put on the back burner as they have been for most of the season. Looking forward to a great fall walleye bite but in the mean time the panfish are king

Couldn’t make her down Jeff. Haven’t even fished with any of the Udel boys this summer. Glad to hear you capitilized on some blue eared freaks

There is still time Bret. I actually love the ROL area when the water is high and steady. Gets you back to places that you seldom see. Mabe labor day week-end?

In pool 11 the northerns were in cool water similar to what you reported on last year. They hit spinner baits, plugs and spoons the first day I tried it but after that they only hit spoons that were slow rolled along the bottom. If I wasn’t snagging something on the bottom every cast, I was probably reeling too fast. Over a 10 day period I did catch and release on 25 but had to keep 3 that drove the hooks into the gills. A 41″ was my best and my buddy’s was 39.5″
