The Red Bull Flutag event is Saturday on Harriet Island downtown St Paul. Over 40,000 people expected. I expect it to be darn near impossible to navigate pool 2 through downtown. Also, I 94 will be closed from 280 to 35E.

That would be neat to go see if it wasn’t for all the people. I guess I’ll be staying away. Bummer

A new U.S. record was set in 2007 at Red Bull Flugtag Nashville when a flying banjo flew 155 feet!

    Had I only known!!

I could have trumped that record by 100 feet easily with my flying LakeMaster MN card.

Wish I could be there. My buddy/fishing partner and his colleagues were chosen as one of the teams. Hopefully they will be the new owners of a record on flying predator species

b52 bomber set a new world record! 205ft!!

it was a lot of fun today, and i didn’t let the blood pressure get too high dealing with some of “lake boaters”…

we only had two people hook our anchor rope with theirs, and unhook us, one boat get their outdrive caught in our rope, and 47 boats drift into us.

i actually had two separate people tell me this was their first time on the river, they usually boat on lakes, and just wanted to come see it. WTH… and this was as we were pushing them off our bow as they could not get an anchor set.

and i think a world record was set, for a record number of 19ft runabouts attempting to anchor in 20 FOW, in a heavy current, with a 12lb mushroom anchor and 25ft of rope.

all in all, it was packed, but a good time, and well worth getting up there at 10 am.

Wow. What a zoo out there today. Never seen that many boats on the water that early in the morning. We never got much farther north than 494 today but there was still plenty of traffic there. Sure would of liked to had seen the Futog. Anyone know if it is on the tv or the net some where?

On the other hand fishing was fantastic in all those waves today. We caught walleyes in almost every spot we stopped. Even rocken and rolling in 4′ boat wakes up by 494.

I hope you explained to your clients that on a typical saturday in late July you wouldn’t see half that many boats out there. But, like you said the fishing was pretty decent.

We were on land and saw the number of boats in channel which was very suprising. Good to hear things didn’t get to bad for you. You mentioning all the boats trying to anchor in the heavy current with a 12lb anchor gave my wife and I quite a chuckle. Thanks for the laugh. I’m sure it was not as funny at the time.
