    Hi,
I would like to take my son, and some of his friends out tubing. I would go on the river, but with the previous rain, I would rather not. I am going to go to Lake Wissota. If anyone has a good spot, that is deep, and safe, and also a good sand bar. I would like the help.
    Thank You, Brock

I’m probably not the one to ask about Wissota, but I’ve seen people tubing the rivers that come out of the lake.

If you are looking for main lake sand bars, I would check out the Chetek chain of lakes. Several of the lakes have mid-lake sand bars that people pull up on and hang out in knee deep water. There are a few bars on Lake Chetek and some on Prairie. Our favorite one is around the island toward the north end of Prairie. I’ve seen 10-12 boats pulled up there at one time with plenty of room to let the kids run around. It’s not tubing but you could float around.
Nice thing about Chetek, like Wissota, is that there are several restaurants on the lake.

    Good luck!

If your going to Wissota I would go out on the island in front of the View off Hwy. X, I took my kids tubing down on The Chip river at Riverview Park last week and they was only a handfull of other boaters out there but it was a Wednesday. There is a nice island across from the landing at Mount Simon Park in Eau Claire. If its real windy they wont have much fun on Wissota unless they enjoy pain. The river is nice because you can find a place protected from the wind…just an idea..Have fun.
