My bride and her girly friend want to camp on the river at the end of the month. I have never camped this area and was hoping for some direction at a few good spots to set up and camp for a few days. They will have my boat and they wouldn’t mind wetting a few lines but that won’t be a priority. Thank you for any help!

There is a nice water-side camping area right out of Alma’s north side only a couple miles. I’m not certain of fees or regiistration, but its handy and right along side the hiway.

They are looking to camp on the main channel. The reason I directed them this way is they are on a budget and camping on the river is free fun and adventurous! Thanks

By launching on the Minnesota side…say Wabasha…they’ll find lots of camping on the sandbars by heading down stream.

I’d head north of Wabasha about 1.5 miles, between miles 761 and 762, on the minnesota side, there is a sand bar that is very parklike, and you will only be a little ways from Wabasha. We’ve been there twice with a houseboat, and it is great location for camping.
