What A Mess

Took a little road trip today ,drove down to the Winona area and man what a mess the river was there, all gates and rollers were open and big logs were all over the river, also TONS of grass/weeds . That pretty much explains why NO ONE was on the river.

I sure hope this mess doesn’t last long.

The forecast on this end isn’t calling for any more rain for the rest of the week. That will definitely help.

I was listening to the National Wether Service today and they were talking about minor flooding on the Minnesota. That’s going to come past here eventually. It might take a while for things to settle down.

    Woosies.
We’ve had all that since early march with no let up.
By the way, where is all the praying for high water and jumping for joy when you got it like I heard this spring?

We just didn’t want you to get the idea that we don’t have compassion for the plight of our fellow anglers further downstream. But if you insist… HIGH WATER >>>

Lower St. Croix below Stillwater, which is part of Pool 3, is way up for the third time this year. Wonder what effect this will have if any on the Gulf spill. Lots of folks around here worried that the two and three year old loons down in the marshes won’t survive the fall storms and that it may also affect the adults that recently hatched chicks up north. Hope that graceful flight of white pelicans I saw turning togther in a thermal above the
WI bluffs won’t be the last we see for many years.
Word is that ships have to wash down going in and out of Mississippi. Suppose that will send a lot of grain traffic through Duluth Harbor this year?

Good riddance to the white pelicans and the cormorants.
    Yes, I’m a hater.
    Like the loons though.

If anyone gets on Pool 2 tonight, I would like to hear what the conditions are like. I was going to take my 7 year old out tomorrow, but dont like to if the water is a mess w/ lots of trees and debris.

Dave. I would think there may be some good trolling on the upper end of the pool with this high water. Above the confluence the water should be a little cleaner and those fish can really stack into the current breaks during high water. I have had some real good numbers days up there during near flood conditions.
