There’s certainly no point in dreaming easily attainable dreams! Think big, take small deliberate steps, and make your lifetime a learning experience that never ends.

We’ve all run across ‘the guy’ that claims all he ever needs to catch ‘all the fish he could ever want’ is a jig and minnow… and I only fish one spot. Yeah, OK. Even if that was true and a guy could be that narrow minded…. how boring would that be?!

    ProV,

There’s only one guy I’d rather see win that RCL Championship next fall besides yourself….. me! But that’s no surprise I’m sure. Seriously though. I figure you’ve got as good a shot at realizing that dream as anyone else out there.

After re-reading all the posts above there was a couple common threads.

    – More time on the water.

    – Learn a little something new.

    – Return to the basics.

    – Have MORE FUN!

I’m just getting pumped for the season now that we’re a ways into February. Once March rolls around I’ll be on the water plenty but for now the talk about the up-coming season is keeping me sane. Thanks to everyone!

Now that I am part owner of a jon boat I would echo Jon J’s idea of learning all about the cats in Pool 2. There is a lot of water to cover. Living close to a nice access helps and I hope to get out often.

My goal for this year is to catch more big flatheads and find spots on the Missouri that will produce them. I’m in Nebraska, but just stumbled on this site awhile back. i haven’t posted much, but enjoy reading the threads. Fishing the Missouri River is awesome, but it takes a lot of effort to find spots without a boat. Most of the river is lined with trees or private property. My friend and I did manage two solid fish last year: one 40″ and one 47.5″. Catching the fish is the easy part, once we get on a good hole.

Oh Man!! I finally got to sit down and read through all these posts. There won’t be a fish left on the river if we all don’t spread the word of CPR Catch Photo Release along with several other lessons, I will no doubt work on this as my favorite to teach and preach. Please all SPREAD THE WORD !!

This past year I went all year without pulling bouncers and spinners. I started doing that a few years ago and caught alot of nice fish. Even caught them in shallow water that way too. This year I want to try casting plastics more and spend more time on rip rap. I would like to spend more time working different areas on the river too. More time on the water would be great too. ICan never spend too much time on the river.

Hey dinosaur, how’s that jon boat working out for you? If its the 14′ alumacraft that you bought, then I used to be part owner of that boat. There’s been a lot of cats caught out of pool 2 using that boat. Is there still a Britney Spears sticker on the back? We got that at Taco Bell in Selkirk, Manitoba when we were up catching monster channel cats. Could be a good luck charm for ya. My goal would be to catch some new species at the river, like a gar or blue sucker. Where’s Carpchaser? Vern

Vern: Its the same boat. Its been a good addition to fish with. Sorry , Brit got the boot during the setup. If I had known the history behind it I could have spared her. I built a taller transom to accept the T8 we are running with right now. Hope to have some of the cat luck this year. Still got the cat decal on the side.
