I have a 14′ Lowe and today in the wind I got alot of water in over the back on my transom. Is there any place I can get splash guards for my boat. Also I would like to make a live well out of one of the little side chairs/cubbie’s that is in the middle of boat, one on each side. I’m sure I could jimmy rig something up but trial and error isn’t the best thing for me at this point.I was hoping someone who has has “been there done that” for this situation .Thanks in advance for your ideas.

For thee splashguards I’d recommend WhiteCaps. Great product at a really reasonable price. I run them, so does Tuckner and some of the other guys that frequent the board. I’ve never heard of any problems with them and they run about 50% of some of the other ‘big-name’ brands.

Here’s the link to the website: http://www.whitecapmfg.com/index.html

Tell Brian ‘hey’ for me if you talk to him.

I’ve got a small boat too, and have thought about livewells, but just can’t justify the expense and hassle in my little boat. I typically use a cooler instead, with ice if it’s very warm. I put enough water in the cooler to keep the fish fresh and cool. Once I have decided it’s going in there, there’s no sorting, don’t know if that’s really legal anyway. Next step is to drain water for transport home and clean fish once home. My fish are always fresh for the table and usually still more than lively when I clean them. But I don’t fish tournaments either, it would be pretty humorous though to see me in my 12′ Lund w/ 9.5 Johnson at a tournament. Good luck. Bret

I had the same problem with my small 14′ big jon. At first I used one of the tubs like stores use to move stock. the kind

that have the two pc. lid that opens down the center. made a

wood box with a lid on a ss piano hing piped up the plumbing

some carpet put a swivel seat on it

or cabelas has the hatch liners and lids in different sizes

    works great

in the winter i blow out the water from the line and put a plug in the intake and just fill it up if needed by hand

I also made a wooden live well outa wood scraps pops had behind the shed. Painted it inside and out and drilled a plug hole on side near bottom. In summer I fill with a 1 gal milk jug with hole cut on top so it works like a scoup. If fish get sluggish, I fill milk jug and dump and then refresh with clean fresh lake water. Not fancy, but since Im cheap as heck, works well…….Did fashion a padded seat on top of lid so kiddo has place to sit when take mom or dad out on rare occasion that they do go.

Great ideas guys !! I’m really looking to get rid of the clutter in the middle of the boat due to my club feet trying to get from one end of the boat to the next “useage of the side cubbies” I got an old cooler that i use right now and I allways put water in it and place it up front to help off set the weight on the driver in back
