I’m looking for a new depth finder this spring and have narrowed my choices to a Lowrance X-91 or Humminbird Legend 3000. Wondering if anyone has experience or insight with either they would be willing to share. Might consider other brands/models with similar power/resolution if anyone has had good experiences. I believe the Legend 3000 is a modification of the Zercom Liquid Paper Graph of previous years so any comments on that model may be helpful. Thanks much.

Used the Zercom for two years. Only problem is when the conditions are right the screen will have condensation form on the inside. Hard to see thru when that happens. Sent it back and they tried to fix the problem. They helped it but it still happens once in a while.

Just my opnion. I have had hummers and lowrance, have to say the lowrance has always been the better machine. I have heard wonderful things about the Garmin 240. For the price it seems to be hard to beat.

Looking for good information on electronics. Go to anglers world.com and go to the electronics board. There are guys there that can answer any question you have. Some of the guys work for the respective companies, and do repair work. Want the truth about a electronic product these guys can tell ya. And also where to buy it the cheapest.

I love my Zercom LPG and have had no problems with it. Reed’s in Walker was running a special on them.

Been fishing with mine for two and half years and haven’t had one problem with it . I fish 140 days a year be it in tournaments, guideing, or just taken the kids and use my lpg constantly. The only thing I’ve found is that the speed isn’t real accurate I recomend using a gps the first the fisrt few times to see how far its off.E-mail [email protected] he has a few factory setting s you can change, some of which are options that aren’t mentioned in the owners manual. The legend 3000 will be unchanged from the lpg 2000 other then name and color.

    River Rat,

I just happened to have a few minutes this morning and decided to look over some of the posting boards. SO when I lucked up and saw this one, I figured that I better comment on it.

The Legend 3000 is different from the LPG2000 in the following ways:

A.) That the Legend 3000 has three additional menus that are used to control a Temperature Alarm. These menus are called the (#1) Temp. Alarm, (#2) Upper Temp., and (#3) Lower Temp. The first is used to set the mode that the temperature alarm works in (Off, Inside, Outside, and Both). The Upper and Lower Temp Alarm menus are used to set the upper and lower temperature alarm points. In this way an alarm will sound whenever the water temperature changes to fall within or outside the selected upper or lower ranges (or both).

B.) Temperature on the Legend 3000 is displayed in tenths of a degree (Examples: 54.5 F, 24.0 C).

C.) The Legend 3000 has a more powerful transmitter – Legend 3000: 500 watts RMS / 4,000 watts Peak to Peak, LPG2000: 400 watts RMS / 3,200 watts Peak to Peak.

Other than that, the Legend 3000 has all of the other features of the LPG2000 (even the Super Users Menu Group).

    Best Regards,

    River Rat,

Saw in BPS Catalog where they are going for $499.99. Haven’t seen them anywhere else yet. I don’t know what our suggested retial price is but you can almost never go by those anyway.

    Back to work now!

I believe the Lowrances have something other than air behind the screen that does not allow that condensation to form. Really like it a lot.
