was thinking of going pike fishing in some of my favorite backwater spots by wabasha wondering if the panfish are shallow or any other baitfish that the pike like. how are the weeds in the wilcox area if anybody knows we usually do pretty good around there and on the wisconsin side. can hardly wait for muskie opener so i need to go get some slime on my hands. thanks for any info

I fished the Wilcox area today for pike. The weeds are starting to get green. Water temps were 57 degrees. I caught quite a few small pike with the biggest about 6 lbs. I definatly caught smaller pike than in past years. All of my pike where caught on a husky jerk on the pause.

was down the other day in the wilcox area. didn’t get any on the wisconsin side at all but got 3 low 30 inch pike on a hellhound glide bait by federal island. my friend tony hand landed the last fish for me and when i was getting the hooks out the fish jumped out of his hand and into my leg. lets just say all the hooks in my pants any one in my knee.
