It’s funny how a quick text can lead to a hot bite.
Saturday, while watching the rain wash the winter sand away from my driveway, I sent Pat(gutone4me) a quick text asking just how much fun it was fishing in all that rain. A quick reply from Pat said the bite was good, except for the Walleyes they happened to be chasing. After a flurry of texts, my Dad and I were on our way down to pool 8 to chase some hungry White Bass.
It didn’t take long, and I had 3 in the boat courtesy of my favorite Excalibur lipless crankbait. Soon after that, my Dad put a few in the boat via the always reliable JimmyD River Bugs.
Not to be outdone, I rigged up a 3/16oz Precision Jig paired with a Great White 3.25″ Paddletail. After the first cast, it was lights out. In no time, we had a mess of White Bass headed for a hot grease release and a batch headed for the pickle jar.
Even with the lousy weather, the hot White Bass bite more than made up for it. I hope to get back out there soon.
Special thanks to Marshall(wimwuen) for putting me & gutone4me on a hot bite.
