I recall fishing pool 2 many years ago.I want to give it a go again possibly this weekend. I can’t quite recall how to get to the 494 access by the airport. From the west, I know I take 494 E by the airport…anyone help me with directions from here? I’m thinking this is the 494 access folks are talking about. Is it safe to run down and fish the Ford Dam? Thank!!

pool 4 was a mess this last weekend. logs floting everywhere. islands or grass and trees floating.couldnt keep your hook clean. even seen and heard a couple boats run into logs after dark. we launched at baypoint and our last spot was hay creek so we didnt have to go far to get back but be careful out there guys. the fish were even cooperating

58F today on P4. Go fish… but watch where you’re going and wear your life jacket/kill cord.

Lilydale FINALLY opened the gate and you can launch there again.

I’m planning on hitting Pool 2 tomorrow morning and originally intended to put in at Lions Levee Park, but I noticed on the Nav maps that theres a landing off of Hilary Path on the SE side of Spring Lake. Is this landing accessible this time of year? Is it open? It looks like its probably just a gravel lot and landing, but I don’t mind so long as I can put the boat in. I’m most interested in fishing around grey cloud, and would love to skip the 10+ mile hike down river to get to that area.

Usually when 494 is mentioned, it means the landing in S. St.Paul by the stockyards. Not sure on launches by MSP other than Hidden Falls and Fort Snelling? If you choose S. St. Paul, get off 494 at Concord, head north on Concord and take a right by the Hotel a few blocks up from 494. Should be landing signs if I recall, follow those. Debri wise it seems less than a couple weeks back and getting better, but you still need to take it easy and keep an eye out.

You can launch at Spring Lake off Hilary path; but it is a crappy landing and will require you to back in quite a ways
(you will have to wade a little). And Spring Lake is shallow and full of wood. So be careful if you do launch there.
