It all depends on traffic. No traffic about 15 minutes. Get behind a large barge it could be hours.

What Mike said. 15-20 minutes to 2.5 hours for a double.

I don’t have the number, but you can call ahead and check the barge schedule, I think.

Sunday there were four barges that came through Pepin between 10:00am and 3:00pm. I would have to imagine they kept the lock quite busy that day.

Are they not also doing some Major Work on L&D3 this summer or do I have the wrong one?

I know there were warnings last Fall for Fishing Tournament Organizers to try and avoid it if possible.

I don’t like to put words in the lock operators mouth…but….

They would perfer that we use marine radios to call them if possible.

They know when a barge is coming through when the barge radios to them, so that could be as little as 30 minutes.

There is a website that will tell us when a barge has gone through the up or down stream lock and a person can guess about the time it will be arriving at 3…but they may stop for some reason or their destination may be prior to arriving at 3. So it’s still a crap shoot on arrival time.

The posts that’s tacked to the top of this forum has the construction info.

Hey Outdraft! What will you be changing your name to once the construction is done and there’s no Outdraft!?
