If I had a dollar for every time….
You guys get over it and get back to fishing!! There’s more
places to fish on P4 than you can shake a stick at !!
If the guy went inside you, or if he didn’t. DON’T MATTER !!!
If I bitched about every time somebody cut me off, trolled over my line, bumped into me, held me up at the landing to un-tarp their boat, snagged my anchor rope, etc.
    Jeezus !!

We’re all in it for the same reason and that is to catch some fish, I’m sure you have caught some fish in your lifetime and I am positive there are more to be caught. Give it a couple weeks and Pool 4 will be back to normal and we wont have to see or hear about this craziness ’till next spring

When I was up on pool 4 in March, I was set up on a seam, pitching out the back of my boat and bringing the jig back up the seam. I was catching a fair amount of fish. I had a few boats below me that were not catching anything. I had some friends in my boat that had to leave at noon, so another buddy pulled up to give them a lift to shore. My anchor pulled loose when my friends were hopping out, so I had to move back up and re-anchor. The guys below me thought I was leaving so they pulled up anchor all set on taking my spot. I told them I was just re-setting my anchor. I didn’t leave, so they just dropped anchor directly behind my boat. Their anchor was literally sitting on the bottom less than 10 yards away, completely cutting off my ability to fish. After a couple of comments to them that were low key and not insulting, with no response, I went off on them. They did not understand why I was pissed. They claimed I wasn’t fishing when they anchored, so it shouldn’t matter. I wasn’t fishing at that specific time, because I was resetting my anchor.

Moral of the story is, the world is full of people that are just plain inconsiderate or flat out stupid. You can’t stop them, you can only hope to contain them. Its never the end of the world, and isn’t worth being mad for more than a couple minutes. When you are fishing P4 in the spring, it just ups the odds that you will run into one of the stupid or inconsiderate. If you are catching fish, and they are not, it is never because they are not fishing the spot correctly, it is because you happen to be in the only spot holding any fish. Its just the way it goes.

This whole thing is pathetic. But you guys have reminded me why I try to stay away from pool 4. Thanks

Guess I should have been mad when the guy got to close with his big motor and lost my $80.00 anchor. It happens move on and just fish!

I really didn’t mean for this to get so many energetic responses.

FYI, I saw a guy take out, or more appropriately take OFF his lower unit on a can just south of the high bridge. Cans are still submerged, keep your eyes open.

I’ve never seen a wife shake her tail so fast when you catch a fish!

Seriously though, the one thing that bugs me about P4 is all the hush hush right before a tournament, which is just about all the time. Its bogus and especially for those of us who don’t fish serious tournaments. There’s more “double agent” conspiracy theorists down there prior to a tournament (did I mention that there is always some type of tournament going on) than the CIA and NSA combined.

as far as the tournament guy that asked you to move so he could fish there:
There is a rule in some of the tourneys that says they are not allowed to do so and in fact breaks the rules.
I fished with Gary Parsons one time in a PWT tourney. There were some bank fisherman in one of his favorite spots. we had to wait until they left around mid day just to cast in the same area.
Next time a tourney guy does that, get his boat number and report it to tourney officials. That makes the tournament look bad and it is bad publicity.
I fish tourneys too and it doesn’t matter how much money its for or how much i have invested in it or if i make my living from it. I have no right to ask you to move because i am fishing a tournament. In fact, some tourneys are purposely started a little later in the morning for the very reason of letting the locals get to their spots first so the tournament guys dont take over a body of water depending on how many boats are in the field.

I’ve had my share of not so nice guys stormin close by on lakes, rivers and reservoirs. I myself slowdown as to not rock a guy out of his boat if im going by. just courtesy i guess. hoping one day that common courtesy will be contagious and catch on.
    just my .02 cents worth!!

After reading all the “drama” for twenty minutes I can now go to bed with a good laugh and have witnessed so many of the things mentioned above. Having no connections to either party regarding the anchored boat thirty yards from shore. You gotta go around but it’s been done to me many of times. I think some people don’t realize that not all people set there boat up right on top of where they are fishing, especially when your fishing shallow. Good Night!

We should give GSP the benefit of dought, he might be new to the river, I do not know. For any newcomers to the river there is kind of an unwritten rule that you should not pass between a boat and shore when they are anchored especially this time of year when guys commonly are casting to shallow water.

You know what gets my blood boiling when some jerk cuts a line with 50 hooks on it at both ends and bends the conduit stakes below the water level. Not only destruction of property and prolly theft but also a danger to other boats. Just once I would like to catch one of these guys.

Ahhh, spring must be here. The sounds of robins out my window, fist fights on Pool 4 and complaints about rude fisherman on the internet.

I promise you this post comes up every spring about this time. I wish I had the time to get down to the river and let someone ruin my day by fishing “too close” to me.

All fisherman on pool 4 should start bringing squirt guns out on the river. If somebody gets to close just give them a little squirt. No squirting back if you were the fisherman at fault though. Maybe you could even keep points for the fisherman that got squirted the least amount of times in a year and give him a sportsmanship award at the end of the year.

Are paintball guns ok, or are those just for jet skis?

You and me both… I wish I had time to get the boat out instead of sitting in it in the garage making the noices…

Paintball guns work great for jet skis. I really enjoy them going over the top of a wingdam when the water is low. They seem to think that it is some sort of jump. I don’t think they understand why the water looks the way it does on a wingdam. Just something about that sound of fiberglass grinding against rock that brings a smile to my face.
