Anyone been out looking at the ramps lately? Wondering when they might start to open up again?

Hi Mike I looked at the 494 access about an hour ago. The water has come down some but it has a ways to go yet. The barricades are still up.
March 28, 2010 at 10:59 pm #858154Just drove by Lilydale, the top of the ramp still looks to be under 2-3 feet of water, so it’s certainly going to be some time yet, iirc hidden was the first to go under, so that will be even longer.
March 29, 2010 at 4:10 am #858285I can’t say for 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure it appeared to over the road yet and in the parking lot of that club there, I was going to post it was still closed, but I wasn’t a 100% sure, I bet Joel knows. I was driving NB on 35 so it was hard to say for sure.
March 30, 2010 at 12:19 am #858664Was at the Lyons Levee in St Paul Park today and the water just below the steps that you take to walk down to the ramp. I’m guessing it will need to come down at least 4 feet before they will open it up. Then there is so much silt and mud to get rid of. There are barricades up there, too.
QueticoPosts: 5March 30, 2010 at 3:13 am #858733I was biking down in the Lilydale area today. The road is still closed and will likely be closed thru the week. The water by the club is 2-3′ deep. The water is over the road just south of the train bridge. Ton of mud on the road from where the water receded.
March 30, 2010 at 2:32 pm #858854You are right Nick. I do know. It is just what Quetico said. Hidden Falls gate is still locked as well. I think we are looking at some time next week b4 we can get out.

March 30, 2010 at 5:41 pm #858943Looked at 494, hidden falls and lillydale today. The road is still blocked to lillydale. Looks like lots of water on the road near the yacht club like stated above.
Hidden falls gate is still closed but looking down the hill much of the park is above water.
At 494 there is still water covering the small grassy area at the landing. Other than the road being blocked off 494 would be very usable. Think I may start call south saint paul city hall later today and see when this is going to get opened back up. Would be nice to see it going by the weekend.
March 30, 2010 at 10:20 pm #859040I’m rethinking my earlier prediction and guessing that if we avoid any heavy downpours we should be in business somewhere by the weekend. At least I hope so.

March 30, 2010 at 10:55 pm #859060I hope you guys are right but I expect a pretty long wait before some of the ramps are open again.
At this point I’d say next weekend is a better bet than this weekend.
Hope I’m wrong!March 31, 2010 at 1:12 am #859088Thats why Im going to start calling the cities to get on opening them. Im sure most of these cities pay little attention to who is using the ramps and when they want to us them. Put a bug in there ear and hopefully they will open a little sooner.
Last year we where launching boats at 494 when the water level was roughly a foot lower than what it is rite now.
March 31, 2010 at 2:26 pm #859253Mike, post the SSP phone number so I can call in there too.
Enough is enough…gotta get on the water.
March 31, 2010 at 4:19 pm #859295Thought I just posted this. SSP told me its the DNR that has it closed. Anyone have a good contact number for them.
March 31, 2010 at 7:25 pm #859365I actually drove on Lilydale road today. I wouldn’t recommend anybody else doing it. Mud and silt over the road as deep as a fott or more in places. And water still over the road by the landing entrance.
They happened to have gaps in the barriers; so I decided to go looking around. My truck is now covered with mud. They are going to need trucks and front end loaders to get Lilydale road back in decent shape. And the Yaght Club took a beating as well.

April 1, 2010 at 2:16 pm #859691So when you pull your rig into the end of the parade, the crowd will start cheering you?
I’ll cheer.
Better yet…make Jenine take that car to work .
April 1, 2010 at 6:28 pm #859799Jenine hasn’t even noticed it is covered in mud. She is a bit pre-occupied.
I’m not kidding that I had to put it in 4WD to get through some of the spots. And I drove through at least 2 fow by the landing entrance. It was one of those deals where once you go down that road you got to keep going until you can find a turn around or you are hosed.

April 2, 2010 at 4:11 pm #860089SO strange we are waiting for the rivers to come down while all the area lakes are freakishly low.
April 2, 2010 at 5:38 pm #860120Hidden is going to be a while yet!
Gates`still locked, ramps still under water but close`and the parking lot needs some attention with a layer of silt/soot/mud.Good news is I get in better shape with each trip up and down the hill!
April 2, 2010 at 8:23 pm #860164That looks to be about a foot from being usable. Sure hope the city see it that way to.
April 2, 2010 at 9:34 pm #860183Sounds like Watergate will be opening later next week once the water falls another foot or two!
fishdalePosts: 406April 3, 2010 at 3:18 pm #860359Took my bike down to Lillydale Sat AM. Road to the landing from the P and Y club was fine. Parking lot is all above water. Water is up to the top of the ramp. To mee everything looked usable. Now we just have to wait for someone to open the gates.
The road east of the ramp still has alot of mud and some water flowing over it so that may take a little more time
I did pass 2 Dakota county vehicles on the road so someone is down there looking at things.
Regarding a fishing report we had to bike around 1 dead carp and 2 dead sunfish.
April 3, 2010 at 4:12 pm #860370As of this morning 494 is close. They probably could open it now. The water is just at the bottom of the island in the turnaround. Lions Levee is close too. So something should open in the next few days.
