Does anyone know when lock and dams 6 and 7 open up to boat traffic?

    Thanks,

Drove to Trempealeau with the intent of putting in at the on the south side of the dam to only find the whole parking lot FULL of water. Guys were using the far entrance to the lot as a ramp. It was just crazy!

FDR, did you make it out? If you got out, how was the bite?

    Dave,

After seeing what the conditions were, we drove down to Clinton street and put in there. I found out at the ramp that there was a “no-Wake” in effect along any portion of the river that was developed. With our limited time it was just not going to work to run up to the dam. So we gave the Black a try and lost one Northern.

Hopefully I will be able to get out on Thursday or Friday.

    FDR,

Thanks for the report and good luck if you get out later this week. I will not be able to get out until Monday and that should be back up to pool 4 for me.

BTW – someone just told me yesterday that several of the landings in the Winona area were recently shut down due to the high water. I have not been down to see personally but it sounded like most if not all in the Prairie Island area were closed. Again, this is NOT confirmed info – just what I heard.

Prairie Island was closed Sunday as was the ramp on Wisc.side below dam. Only 2 I checked but from water level I doubt any in Winona area are open. Didn’t see a boat on water anyplace. Will check again thursday.

I stood on the observation deck at 6 today and watched a tree scoot on though the gates. It’s still pretty wild, but I can see that the river is going down. I didn’t see anyone fishing, but there were a couple trailers in the lot.

…now that I think of it, there were about a dozen people on the wall. They looked pretty relaxed!
