Raingear suggestions

Have had an Omega rainsuit that has worked really well for quite a few years, but it’s getting kind of knarly. Any suggestions out there for a replacement? Would like to go cheaper than the $350 to $450 for the Cabelas or BPS top-of-the-line suits…like $200 tops.

If you are looking for a uninsulated suit the Best Rain suit you can buy is the Stearns Guide wear for $200 it is a hell of a rain suit I have the Insulated Cabelas Guide Wear for the cold months and have the stearns for March thru Nov and it is just as good Quality Gaurunteed to keep you dry. I bought mine at Gander Mountain last year. they should be getting them in soon.

    talk to you later

This might be a bit cheap but I use the gander mountain rain gear. They run around 50 bucks for the entire set. I have never really had a problem with them. Breathe good and hold up well. I use mine for both hunting and fishing and they usually last a good 3 years before needing replacement. They are not insulated though.

I just got some Frogg Toggs this year. I have never worn a more lightweight set of raingear in my life.

Waterproof, breathable and comfy. Check ’em out.

I bought a set of uninsulated Pella camo raingear. Lightweight and quiet. I bought it at Gander for under $200.00. I’d buy another set.

Froggtogs will be available in the soon to open EFN Store right here. They will be available made with or without the EFM logo and FTR or FTL e-address on them.

I have the Pro Angler suit and I love mine too! They are a unique fabric that can be rolled down small enough to fit inside a tackle box, real handy and very effective. I have the hooded coat and bib pants. Works for me! They retail about $79.00

    Here is the web-address http://www.froggtoggs.com

and the info on the suit I have…

The PA109 Pro Angler frogg toggs suit features a full-zip front jacket with button down storm flap, elastic cuffs and waist, attached hood that stores in zippered collar. Hood has barrel-pull drawstring and rear storm gutter. The bib pants feature 1″ elastic suspenders with locking buckles, a high chest, high back design, and straight legs with velcro strap closures. The entire suit weighs less than 20 ounces, is completely waterproof, windproof, and breathable. Available colors are Blue, Black, Gray, Khaki, and Woodland Camoflouge. Sizes XS thru 4X.

Hawger I was just wondering when the online store will be open. Thanks for this option in buying fishing related products.

Might have to try the frogg toggs. Price is right and if you use them Mar through Nov…that ought to be good enough for me. You can always wear heavy clothes underneath in cold weather, I guess.

    thanks

I too recently purchased a set of frogg toggs and think they will be better than my Sterns set. They are so much lighter and unconstricting. They also come in camo for hunting.

If you need a set for cold weather go for the Cabelas. I’ve never seen anything better for those miserable early spring and late fall outings.

EFN is shooting for the opening in a couple of weeks.

    The preperation has been humongus!

There are many other things happening at the same time… things we at EFN are working on besides filling the store shelves. The Expo had to grab our full attention.

Mostly what has taken so much time, is getting set up to do online credit cards and the security issues. Steve and James have that done now and have spent the extra money and time to have the very best in electronic card processing protection. This was a big issue that has taken much consideration, time, and effort.

I am excited about the store. Management will be announcing the grand opening soon.

I too love my Cabelas Guide Wear as they keep me dry fishing all day in downpours of rain. I bought the insulated parka and the unisulated bibs. The Frogg Toggs sound like the perfect summer rain suit as I have heard alot of good stuff about them. Will have to check them out at the new EFN store.

It is not breathable but for sitting in a boat nothing beats either the Helly Hansen or Grunden. Both are made for commercial fishermen. About a 150.00 bucks for Jacket and bibs and it will last forever.

I have to admit, when I first opened the box my Froggs came in I was a bit skeptical. However, after further investigation, putting them on etc., I soon realized these are SLICK!!! Guaranteed to be waterproof and extremely light weight and breatheable(sp?). There have been many a day in the stream/river when a storm rolls through or during an all day rain event(perfect for stream fishing). When it’s hot out, you can’t afford to be sweating. What good would rain gear do ya then eh? I am really looking forward to putting them to use this season!!!!!!

    Keep the rods bendin’!!!

I would go with the Cabela’s rain gear. You will not get wet in this rain gear. Cabela’s also has one of the best return policies that I ahve seen. I was fishing with someone that worked at Cabela’s and they saw a rip in my liner and said return it for a new one. My set was 4 years old. Cabela’s replace with a new set without ant questions asked.
