I read a “lead line” article written by H2O and I have a question. How do you peel back the dacron from around the lead core so you can break it off in preperation for joining mono to the dacron. Can you join the two types of lines with out removing the lead core?

I attach the mono to the jacket of lead line by holding the end of exposed inside lead with a pliers, and slowly pulling the jacket in the opposite direction. I gently run my fingers across the dacron layer and it bunches up (a little) away from the lead/exposed end. Once I have a couple of inches lead exposed, I snip it off. Then run your fingers across the dacron in the opposite direction (towards the end). It will unbunch and feel wimpy at the end without the lead. Insert the mono into that 2 inch hollow end. One normal overhand knot in this 2 inch area secures the line forever. The knot is tiny, and slips through guides with ease.
