My buddy and i where fishing the FYB yesterday and our pattern had not been working so far so we went verticle slowly jigging Hutchs Hog spoons and in one drift we each caught to carp looking fish? I have caught many rough rish on the river in my life and so has my buddy neither of us had any idea what they were? In the moment of trying to get fish to weigh, both tossed em back and kept going. No camera with and we leave cell phones in the truck in tourneys, they were about 24 in long and there mouth was small and on the bottom, greyish in color and skinny. Anybody else hooked one similar? We must have went through a school because we rolled some more fish then put those rods away!

There are so many different species of fish in the river. Without a picture or a really accurate description the carp sounds like a buffalo or quill back but it’s to hard to say by the little bit of info provided.

Could have been a Bighead carp. They are coming…unfortunately.

Did the eyes seem to be set low on it’s skull?

I called my tourney partner this morning and we talked over what they looked like he was the one to unhook them both while i stayed on the bow mount to stay out of fellow anglers way. He said that they had larger scales than the ones in the photos and more of a pointed dorsal fin?

Most likely a Carpsucker, Buffalo, Redhorse or could even be a Shad. Shad do get large but not sure about 24 inches.
