I stopped down at the 494 ramp over lunch and talked to two construction guys and they said the road to the ramp is now open full time. The “Road Closed” sign was taken down. So it looks like you can use the ramp at any time, any day.

Not to nitpick, I do believe you still need a pass to park there late night.
I’ve stayed way past the closing time numerous times. Even chatting with an officer at 3am. I don’t think its a problem when you have a trailer attached to your car or truck. They run the rif raff and partyers out after 11pm.
Thank for the ramp update Boone!

lions levee and lilydale are the same way, no problems as long as your fishing.

What about necking?
Anyone check out P2 today? Is it passable or still clogged with ice?
I was down at 494 on Sunday, lots of ice bergs and junk but doable. Not sure what it is like now, not sure if they opened gates yet or if more ice broke up, it changes quick as I’m sure you know. Last year I spent some time beached for hours while I let a major amount of crap go by, it changed quick even when I was on the water (gate flush?). Ramp is fine fyi.
I was at Hidden Falls yesterday on my way home from work. First time there, ever. I didn’t have boat with me, just scoping out the landing. I walked north to the dam. The flow was really moving. On river gauges website it said 35000+++ I think with flow anticipated to be 3x that by Friday. There were 3 boats at the dam. 1 smaller 16 footer that was out in the main current, right in the choppiness turbulent water close to the dam, really fighting it with his big motor. Not sure what he was trying to do but sure looked treacherous.
With super high flow and rising water approx 6 feet in the last week I wouldn’t even know where to start..I think water temps are approximately mid 40s. I have 101 thrust Minnkota and I know I would have a tough time nagigating any of that water safely. Might be just me though..

I was, too
I heard Monday was not navigable due to ice. Yesterday cleared up a little. I think I am not going to risk it today. Not worth it to me to risk my boat/life.
Drove by Lillydale and hidden falls today. Lots of mud, ice and wood coming out of the mn river. Most of this is blowing rite by the lillydale landing. I would imagine it would be very tough to launch a boat into this stuff.
Hidden falls was a little better. 6 trailers in the lots mid afternoon. I would still put my boat in here but would only recommend it to the most experienced. Even with that I would bet the landing will be closed in the next few days if the water continues to rise as predicted. The water was with in a few feet of the parking lot today.
i launched out of hidden falls today it was pretty easy. except i wasn’t ready for the back current. like mike said most of the mud, ice and big trees coming from minnesota river. some ice chunks on the miss up from the MN and some wood started coming later in pm. no fish to report
The Sheriff told me they will be closing some of the P.2 launches starting tonight.
