The 494 launch is getting close again on pool 2. That’s the good news. The bad news is the sign on the road that goes to the ramp saying the road will be closed Feb 22nd and it looks like they are gearing up for something big.

They have had a pretty good track record for keeping the road open. All of the closures so far have been short.
That’s a critacle access area. The Fire Dept and Coast Guard like to have that open as much as we do.

Let’s hope so Jon! When I was down there yesterday they had front end loaders, flags stuck all over the side of the road and guys walking around scoping things out. It doesn’t look like it is related to the new bridge either but the road itself.
The other piece of good news is that the bridge looks to be almost complete and some barges are being removed. We should start seeing a little more flow on the ramp area.

There’s a major sewer line project that will be going on parallel to the access road. You gotta think they will try to keep the road open for no other reason but so the bridge construction crew can get to their jobsite.
I talked to the construction guys today and they said the road would be closed for two weeks; but it will be open after 5:00 pm and on weekends. So if the ramp gets a little better over the next few days we might be able to get back out there!
