Sorry to bring this thing up again( not really!) I was just watching the news out of minneapolis, chanel 5 KSTP. up came a brief story on one groups effort’s to ban fishing in minnesota’s state parks!!! Yes it was PETA!!!! these people will stop at nothing!! although it was very brief, and ended with the reporter saying that the MN. DNR has no intention of Any kind of fishing ban, they got thier message out there on T.V. NOW I am pissed off!!!! Guys can we put together some kind of petition on line and send it off to the gov or something??? I feel the need to let people know how much we care about the state park’s, and how much we actually contirbute, not only in money but in protecting our resources and the environment

I dont know why we are even talking about these clowns on this board. I wouldnt give them the satifsfaction that you even noticed them. That is what they want.

Sorry hougie, but I’v seen other groups ( I won’t name them) take away some of my favorite trout fishing waters, to make them better for “Everyone” when in fact all they did was put so many damn restrictions on them all they did was to alienate all different forms of fishing except thier own and turn these streches of water into thier “own” little places for them and thier buddies!

I just sat by and watch never thinking it would happen!!!

Hougie, you have a great point but I don’t think we’re PETA’s target audience. Controversy sells…………..always has, always will. But the diversity doesn’t lie with their “opponents”, rather with the “uninformed, undecided, and youth” of our society. Exposure here doesn’t get them anything so I think that’s why they hit papers and tv and similar media’s. If lobbying on site’s like this one got them what they wanted, you’d be hounded day and night. Where you are exactly correct is when we get our dander worked up and create some opposition, we throw more attention their way than what they can do on their own. So it does contribute to their exposure and their cause……………..but it can do the same for us as well. Bottom line? I think we all have to fight for what we believe in and I believe these people are boneheads…………….and I’m willing to state that anywhere, anytime……………….but you do have a point Steve.

My point was simply they are not worthy of discussion in MY OPINION and if they knew of anybody talking about them then they get what they want. I wasnt talking about just us here on FTR are you serious? Im certainly not that arrogant to think anyone from that group would notice our site. Just ignore them. Fishing and hunting is way bigger than those people.

To think that (YOUR) site,( you have created this for all of us) is not that significant, I challenge everyone to make sure IT IS!!!! weather its this group, or the next I would want to be AROGGANT enough to stand up to what I (and hopefully all of you ) belive in……as hawger has stated…. fisher man are not a formatble group.As far as fighting groups as this are concerned!! I for one would enjoy fuc>ing these people (or any like them UP!!!!)

As big a “waste of time” as I agree with you they are, they do have to be talked about to some degree or we’ll be guilty of ignorance. They talk about us (all sportsmen), does that mean we’re getting what we want? It’s merely awareness, not some form of victory. If their activity can effect ours, it should be talked about somewhere………………………I’m guessing…………..

As for being arrogant……………ummm………I’m sorry if you thought I was taking you there………………I certainly didn’t think you voicing of your entitled opinion as being arrogant. And pat yourself on the back, it’s not a giant like Yahoo or Ebay but EFN is making ripples and why shouldn’t someone………….anyone, pay attention to that? 30,000 hits a day should attest to someone paying attention to what you’ve cultivated here…………….I’d suppose. To admit it or think it, does not make you arrogant, nor did I mean to say anything that would imply that.
