Big D’s place burns!

A lot of you guys on the site here know or at least read of Big D. His trailer up at Mille Lacs burnt to the ground this weekend! His property is right next to “Hook’s” (Tim Hukreide from FTL) cabin. They saw the plume from the lake while fishing tip-ups. I hear it was a total loss. Any of you who have partied or hung out up there know that this is a terrible loss for us! Big D’s open door, (And to some extent, Open cooler) policy was as gracious as it got! It was always a great place to flop, and hang out. Anyone who has a lead on an old trailer home, post up here….We need to get this icon back, and have a great place for FTR and FTL’ers to stop in and say “Hi” and have a couple(too many!).

Big D and his girlfriend just had the trailer moved in, and had just about finished renovations when this mishap took place. Unfortunately, The D Man was between insurance policies, and may have to take this loss “Up the tail pipe” so to speak. It appears it started from the wood stove. The good thing was, no one was hurt, or worse….

Thanks for the kind words Tuck. We will return, the land is about the only thing thats not charred. Thats what we started with 12 years ago. Just do it over again. See you at the lot.

UPDATE!!!!!

My brother has just informed me that the Hayloft bar and resturaunt in St. Cloud is having a benefit for the Big guy an March 16th. The Hayloft is south on HWY 15 from Interstate 94. It is about 2 miles south of the freeway. Donations will be used for helping Big D (And all of us who love this place!!!) to rebuild.

Again, Big D, (And Hook’s) place has been a haven for FTR and FTL’ers up there for tournaments, and guiding. These guys have never said no to anyone.

The Phoenix will rise from the ashes!!!!!

Sorry to here about your place. I can use a hammer or help with the mess or whatever. I can also help keep that cooler full during the rebuild let me know what I can do to help out. Steve

Thanks for the offers guys. This may take a little while to get rolling again. As Tuck mentioned we just finished doing a makeover on the place and need to take care those bills first.

You guys are always welcome to stop in and talk smart around the campfire and watch Tuck work over the deep fryer.

We have to catch a little something to throw in the deep fryer! Hey, here is a thought, if folks donated fish filets, and brought them to the Hayloft, we could charge for a fish dinner! I’ll cook! Anyone that has had my award winning beer batter walleye knows it has to be worth $10 a plate, right??????

The TLO can buss tables…..No, I guess in their case it would be BUST tables! Oh well, we will come up with something….
