I just received the Jan.-Feb., 2002 issue of the Minnesota Conservation Volunteer magazine and in it their was an article entitled, “Mixed Messages” which discusses chemicals in the environment and how they are disrupting critical internal communication systems in fish and other animals.
In this article it states that, “Walleyes are among the Minnesota fish showing signs of hormonal confusion. It’s not yet clear whether the abnormalities affect their ability to reproduce.” It also states, “In Lake Pepin, a team of USGS scientists led by fishery biologist Christopher Schmitt found male smallmouth bass with immature eggs in their testes.”
If you’re interested, here’s a link to the article.
