Mark you calendars. This is the e-mail I got back from the Goodhue county sherrif’s office:

Brad, Kim has copied me on your questions regarding the proposed extension of the no wake zones in Red Wing. I want to make it clear this proposal is not at the suggestion of the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office…in fact, we have made it clear to the Red Wing Port Authority and the Red Wing Harbor Commission we have reservations about the proposal. The impetus behind this extension, as near as we can tell, is coming from a few seasonal cabin owners above Red Wing, and a local sportsman’s club. Neither the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office nor the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has been consulted by the parties seeking the extension of the no wake zone. A public meting is scheduled for Monday November 30th at 5:00 pm in thelower level of the Red Wing Public Library. I would encourage you oranyone who may have an interest in this proposal to attend this meeting to voice your support or dissent.

This meeting should be attended by all who can make it. If nothing else, to let them know it’s not so much the fisherman as it is the big cruisers. We have to idle by their marinas while they can go by and swamp you while you’re fishing.

Exactly Wayne, if anything make it a size restriction. If boat is over 22-24′ it must be at idle!

Just got a phone call from the Goodhue county sheriff’s office. He said there is a petition out there that is for a no wake zone. He said it sounds like there is going to be quite a few people attending that meeting that are for the no wake zone. He suggested that anyone who opposes this should attend the meeting and voice your concerns.
