I stopped by after work yesterday. It does not look good. The ramps are clean. There was a large stretch of ice that went out to the main channel.
I will stop again today and take a pic to post.

I can see Pool 2 out my window here at work, right at the airport side of downtown. It had been frozen shore to shore earlier this week, now there it looks to be about 50% open w/ lots of ice on shore. Tough to tell though, it could just be dark ice.
Thanks guys!
Sunday looks to be in the high 30’s. May have to get out and crunch some ice!
Just took another looks-with better light I can see that it is open water, not dark ice. Also-much less than this morning with pockets of open water in the 30′ or so of shelf ice. I bet a couple wakes would open up a ton of water.
Looking good for tomorrow or Sunday if you dont mind some floating chunks.
Here is one I took 15 minutes ago. A bit better but we will not get out of here for a day or two. As I drove by the bar across the river from the entrance to Hog , it was frozen all the way across. I am sure it would break easy if we could only get on.

Dino,
Thanks for the pics. Does anyone know if Lilydale is usable?
From the 35E bridge the river was frozen shore to shore at 5pm Friday evening. The ice was getting dark, but I wouldnt plan on fishing that stretch until Sunday at the very earliest.
Thanks for the pics Dino.
Looks like the ramp is launchable for smaller boats?
Steve, that’s ice pretty much all the way out to the channel. Both sides of the dock are foze in.
Here is a shot looking down at the Airport area from Mounds park taken about 1pm Saturday. There is open water in the foreground, but forms a sheet that goes shore to shore from the end of the runway over to the poop factory.
After an hour and fifteen minutes of ice removal we were able to get the boat into the water at the 494 launch. Fishing was well worth it with all the sauger and eyes we could pull out. Nothing large but consistent. Over the course of the afternoon we caught 70 + fish.
If anyone has Monday off they will be able to use the launch. After that it is going to get awful hard again.
Upon return to the launch we found that another angler took advantage of the now open 494 access.
This is what it looked like after the ice breaker made it our to the main channel.
Joel,
THanks for breaking that ice up. Thanks to you, I got on the water about 3:15pm yesterday and drove south. I had to break some main channel ice on my way but after that, it was wide open. Jumped around a bit on some wingdams before dark and then settled in on my sleeper wingdam that I have had success the past couple weeks. At that point the wind decided to turn it up a notch and take my jig control away from me. I only stayed out for about 2 hours after dark and called it a night. I boated 7 walleyes. Biggest that I boated was around 26″.
I lost another MONSTER that made her way half way to the boat….
