Hey Guy’s, I need to find a good panny/walleye lake to put the perm ice house on. Here’s my list of possibles all in Washington or Chisago Co. MN…that is. Big Marine (haven’t fished it much) Bone (hard to find fish that should be there) Big Green (lots of action but special regs.) Chisago (lots of action but special regs) I won’t even consider White Bear or Bald Eagle I love em but too many knuckle heads. Also what are your thought on leaving it locked vs. unlocked empty of course? I have already had someone smash the wall off a house 15 years ago and steel everything. It left a bad taste in my mouth for perm. schacks.

    Give me your 2 cents.

    Thanks,

    Ferny.

Ferny, Not to bring you down, but I have had my shack broke into more times than I care to recall. Its funny how I could leave it on Millacs for the whole season and not have one issue (3 years). I bring it home thinking I could fish evenings after work and all I ever did was make repairs 50% of the time I would head out for a night of fishing. It got me down so much that I sold the house this past summer. The one thing I noticed was putting the shack away from the crowd pretty much guarantees a break in. My suggestion is, keep it in a crowd of others and get to know your neighbors around you and form a neighbor hood watch. God thats sad!! But thats what helped my situation, it only got hit once last time I did that.

Good Luck and lets watch for these punks.

Ps, It didnt matter if I had equipment in it with the doors locked or not, it just turned to vandalism after that.

Ferny , I’m wondering how the Croix would be for mixed bag fishing.

The spot across from Bayport on the Wisconsin side gets decent Crappie/Sauger action.

This year a snowmobile or 4 wheeler would be best for getting back and forth.
