Ok, I’m still stuck on shore until I get my trailer welded up (it cracked on me last Wednesday). That was a bad way to end an evening’s fishing. The next morning, however, I get an e-mail from Feather-Craft telling me that I won a new fly rod! I had entered their drawing last Spring and hadn’t thought about it since. So I’m now the new owner of a Reddington Predator fly rod – a 6 weight, 7 foot 10 inch long 4 piece. It came with a Reddington Rise fly reel and a Rio Grande floating WF7F flyline. How cool is that?
But I can’t take my boat out to try this new rod!
OK, deep breath….I can drive down to the river and fish the rip rap from shore. I caught three Smallies and a Sheephead. Nothing big, but a cheap trip
The new rod is a real cannon. I’ve never used a fly rod with an action this fast so it took a little getting used to. It was easy to throw weighted #2 streamers 50 or 60 feet but the thing that was surprising me was the accuracy. Great rod.
