I hope to go out in the next few days to upper pool 2- does anyone have a report on conditions at the Hidden Creek or Lilydale ramps?

    Hey Big Northern!
I just stopped by the 494 Wakota launch on my way back from New Richmond and it is totally clear on both sides. There is always plenty of good parking down there also. Generally speaking the fishing is good too.
Good Luck and Happy New Year.

Heading over to the st croix ice fishing get together on thursday.

Does anyone know how to get to the Lilydale ramp? I searched the archives and did not find any directions. Anyone know if it is open?

I have a kitchen pass for this PM. I could go to the 494 ramp but S. St. Paul has been slow (although I haven’t fished it in a few weeks) for me and from reports it sounds like it remains slow.

We come from the norht side of town so I take 35E south of St Paul and exit onto 13 as soon as we cross the river then head east. I block east of 35E you will see a road that will take you down the hill and back under 13 towards the river. Take that maybe a mile and you will see a park that has a boat ramp in it. The road off of 13 is on the oppisite side from the river. Hope this helps. Looks like I will be heading there shortly.

It’s in the Lilydale Regional Park. Get off 35E at hiway 13 in Mendota. Go north/east on 13 then take a vey quick rite (maybe 100-200 yards north of 35E) onto . . . I forget the name of the road. The road curves around underneath 13, you go right past the yacht club on stilts, then go north/east about .5 mile to the pulic water access sign.

I was down on Pool 2 last night and the 494 ramps was in perfect condition. THe day bite was a bit slow on the wingdams, but the deeper holes were producing a few fish.
Once the sun went down, it was great action of the wingdams. I may be back down tonight if the forecasted 20-35mph winds stay away!!

Here is my report from last night.
I boated my personal Biggest Mississippi River walleye last night!!!

    Last night’s report!

    Wow Steve!
What a night to remember eh!
I can’t say that we have been able to pull out a pair of tropies like those however I can say that we have been able to pull out more nice walleyes this past two weeks than I can remember for a while. The sauger bite has been ridiculous, it is almost criminal. Looks like today may be the last day out for a while.
I’m sorry we missed our guided trip with you. Hopefully in 2004 we will connect. Congrats on your recent trophy and the best to you in 2004. If your new year is anything like how it started it will be quite memorable.
