In today’s St. Paul Paper there’s an article about a sewer repair project scheduled to start this month. This caught my attention:

“Interstate 494 between Concord Boulevard and the Mississippi River — which includes a large portion of the former stockyards and meatpacking plants.

Parts of Hardman and Verderosa avenues will be closed as crews excavate and install pipes from north to south.”

Verderosa Avenue of course is the name of the road that runs down to the 494 access. There’s an open house this afternoon that I will try to attends and see how we (Pool 2 fans) will be affected.

Pretty sure the Coast Guard, Sherriff, local Fire and Police along with Homeland Security need access to that ramp 24/7 365 days a year.

No doubt. It also occurred to me that the Lunda guys working on the bridge are using that road and parking lot so they’re going to need access too.

I’ll go down there and see what they have to say.

Well most of the local business owners were down there so I didn’t hang around long….but I did see a map that shows the sewer lines run parallel to Verdersoa Avenue, on the North side of it. The guy I talked to said they wouldn’t be working on that end of the project for at least a year and when they do they shouldn’t have to block the street.

Big project they are working on. They are replacing the sewer line that services all of SSP and IGH. That pipeline runs under the river and over to the Pigs Eye plant. So expect to see work happening on the river up by the airport at some point.

So two years after I move to Inver Grove Heights the sewer needs to be updated?

Too much red meat and Old World pizza?
