Greetings — new user from Southern Iowa looking for hotspots and where the fish are biting through the ice any where from Dubuque to Cassville, WI. Any ideas or places to hit would be appreciated.

DJunior, the Bertam Lake area (also known as Far Nuff) is probaly the best area up to Cassville. It’s approximately 2 miles south of Cassville off Hwy 133. There’s a series of dredged backwaters that produce crappies and bluegills. Farther south Spring Lake (or better known as Lynn Hollow) produces at times but is much shallower.

Birdman — I’ve heard of Far Nuff (suppose to have a nice Tavern), heard if they’re biting at all there?

DJunior, the tavern there closed a few years back. Now one has to travel a few more miles to find some suds. The bite at Bertam right now is slow. Most people are fishing the dredged areas. Their are still reports of some people having success though. One nice thing about fishing Bertam though is that if you do find a good bite the fish usually will be good size.
