The short trips for Wednesday night after work therapy have just not provided enough time for Mine or Mike’s mental health so……why not spend the whole day on the water

And if we are going to make a day of it….why not change things up big time? Armed with the biggest baits we have tossed out this year looking for big Pike produced quite the facial expressions from some on lookers The big baits didn’t produce the monster toothy we were hoping for but they sure did urine off some 30 inch snot rockets and my biggest Bass to come boat side this year.

The bucket mouth gave himself away with two big blow ups while chasing bait fish 30 yards ahead of the boat. From what I could tell the fish was hungry and had some size so….why not throw the Musky plug at him. The second tug on the Orange Tiger Tally Wacker causing water too fly ever where from the tail end of the lure was too much for the ice cream bucket mouthed green fish to ignore. It blew up on the bait with the utmost aggression I have seen from a bass on a top water bait. With a good solid strike the monster hooks were set and this bass was diggin’ for weeds pulling on the heavy equipment like a team of horses. What a trip to get this fish in the boat for pictures before releasing this unharmed pig

Later in the day Mike had a Bass prove that they didn’t have to be big to try and kill a Musky plug. Pictured below is approximately a 14inch bass that tried to kill a 8inch Hog Wobbler Mike did end up down sizing to a white buzz bait later in the day and let me tell you, that little bait was hot and made for some great action for Mike, no real big girls showed up but it sure was fun watching Mike school some of the 14-16inch LM.

The fish are relating to current again, the best areas to produce Pike and Bass had good current flow either over sand bars or pushing into lily pads. The finned critters also moved from the real shallow stuff, into 3-4fow. Pitching frogs/toads to shallow weed mats and slop was a bust for us on this day proving the bite can change over night.

After a full day of flailing baits the shoulders started to get a little tight. Mike kept mentioning something about it sucking to get old, I was in total agreement We might not be as good as we once was but…..we still have as much fun as we once did Sippin’ cold barleys on a warm sunny to overcast day for hours is just what the doctor ordered.

What a great day of therapy buddy Mike

Get out there and get yourselves some therapy people

Oh no, what is this world coming to, quoting Toby Keith songs now buddy?? Are you finally coming out of the closet as a country music fan? “God is great, beer is good, people are crazy”.

I think the key yesterday was topwater baits that made noise – not that we don’t make enough ourselves We need to keep doing this once a week now to get the old bods in shape for our upcoming musky flailing the water weekend in October. It’s time to build up my supply of buzz baits too. Good therapy for sure.

Love the bridge…the bass…not so much.

It’s been a long week and I could use some therapy.

I keep reading reports other than catfish and am starting to think that I might have to try fishing with something else than a bullhead before Sturgeon season starts.

I may try those things you call Bass.

Nice report and very good looking photos guys!

The area that smaller bass came from with the bridge in the background has been pounded hard by the Bass world since my report 2 weeks ago I’m sure it is not the area that has been winning the local tournaments.

Mike and I would be glad to help you out with the therapy thing Brian, come on down
