Got a chance to fish the river yesterday. It was a beatiful day on the water. We started out going for walleye in a back channel, that recently had produced a few nice eaters. We ended up at 9:00 with 1 16.5 eye and a few sheep that made for a delicious shore lunch at 11:30. We then took a run north looking for some cats, never did get any cats a few of the holes that usually had some were full of redhorse and carp. caught a few more small eye and few more sheep. Lots of people enjoying the river. Water temp was anywhere from 72.4-75.1. I think the water warms up a little more and I hopefully will be able to find catfish instead of redhorse in a few of those deeper backwater holes.

Throw some cut bait in those holes and the sheepies will leave you be. Also true if you run some blood bait or other prepared catfish baits.
