Is there a nice public access below the no wake zone in Prescott and a camp ground or resort on the river on Pool3.

Diamond Bluff has a ramp with a small launch fee/honor box.No resorts or campgrounds that I am aware of other than the Casino. Many folks do camp on the Islands though.

Prescott is the only NICE landing on pool three.

No resorts and as far as camp grounds go…just grab yourself some sandy beach.

About 4 mile south of Prescott is what most call Tanglewood. An island that has lots of weekend activity. About 5 miles south of that is a very very large sand pile (made from dredging the river) that many folks bring there kids to. No shade…just sand.

There isn’t a campground like the Kinni State Park on the St Croix if that’s what your looking for.

Also, the three islands up river from tanglewood are good for camping, and all four islands, you can drive around and park on the backside, so it is not getting pounded by waves.

otherwise there are numerous other places on the Wisconsin side to camp on. just find one, and make yourself at home.

just stay out of the way of the catfisherman running the river at the wee hours of the night…

If you decide to tent it, double check the ramp where you put in at. I know Hastings landing you have to be out of there by 10 pm, or you’ll get a ticket. Not sure about the Prescott launch (i think it also has a 10 pm time but not sure), but double check before you venture out.

If prescott does have a curfew you can use plans marina or hubs marina in hastings, pay $10 and be good.

Prescott landing says it is closed from 2AM to 4AM every day. I think that is so the tuna boats don’t park their rigs there for a week at a time.

yeah we made the mistake of launching there for an all night catfishing trip there 2 years ago. we came back at noon to 1 pm the next day and had a $78 ticket. i think its ridiculos that you have to pay to launch your boat there but you cant park it there all night. not all of us are day time fishers only some of us like the middle of night . i would say launch at hubs and just slowly motor your way downriver and find a good place to set up a tent. youll have fun.

Although a bit upstream, the Bluffs on the Croix is a beautiful campground, quiet, nice. The secret is to get there on a friday morning right when they open, they reserve 6-8 spots for weekend walk-ins, first come first serve. Tell me I didn’t just post my secret!

Yeah, but if you get a camp site, you can leave your trailer there and leave the boat in water tied to a post. I believe a post will cost $5 a night.

When I launched at Prescott yesterday morning at about 5AM I noticed several vehicles with trailers parked along the road rght after you turn left at the liquor store. I wonder if that is where the locals park when they go out camping for the weekend?

I just day tripped it this weekend and I’m glad I did, it was hot out there this weekend. I would love to camp down there this fall, I will have to find out if I can park overnight. I guess I could just stay a Everts and lock thru, we did that last year and that worked pretty good. Thanks again for the info.

Hey guys! Does anyone know if it is ok to park just a vehicle down along the river anywhere there. My brother and nephew are going to meet me down there and they wanted to bring the tent and stay overnight with us. I always leave my truck and trailer up in hastings but he lives out in WI and would work better for him to meet up in Prescott. I always have a trailer on back and have never had to leave a just a car so sorta lost there
