Very early this spring the FW and I woke up on a Sunday morning to find a Red Nun Can navagational marker in front of our camper at Everts.

I thought it odd because that last I recall there wasn’t any nun markers between Everts and the dam. Since the roller gates at the dam were open at that time, it must have come from Pool 3.

At some point while looking around the USCG web site, I found a phone number to call to report misplaced Antons (Aids To Marine Navigation).

I dialed the number and within hours the USCG barge was removing it from the entrance of the Trimbelle River.

Another use for the number is when they are just under water creating a hazard.

My question is did you have to give them GPS coordinates or did you just tell them Everts? and if you were not at Everts would you have given GPS coordinates? I know the nun can near the Tepee and Hay Creek this spring sure looked awfully dangerous sometimes being just inches under water for minutes at a time, also seen a can up in the woods across from Colvil park to this spring.

I told them Everts 2.1 miles down stream of L&D 3.

They asked for the mile marker…which of course I couldn’t remember.

That’s a better response than we get down here. Called in 5 one summer and not a one was retrieved. The drift piles are full of them now.

That was the Wyaconda and they happened to be in the area otherwise there is not a quick response, sometimes a Corp boat will move them or Upper River Services if they are in the area,But the Wyaconda sets them, many are run over by the towboats. You are correct BK they want the mile marker
