We fished Pepin on Friday the 17th and found willing fish. Sauger, walleye, crappies made it to our boat, another boat was putting some fish in his with regularity as well. We used floaters on a lindy set-up and the other guy was doing a jig/minnow combo.
All of our fish came from one particular area, but we tried several and a couple that were duds took us well below Lake City.
The key today seemed to be a very slow, precise delivery of the bait. If we dragged too fast, nada. If we marked fish and did things just right we’d get rewarded. It appeared the fish were on the move and all were post spawn. We were able to follow the masses of fish fairly well until about 1130, then they dissipated.
Nice to be back on the lake again and away from the dams.
