In a word, it was pretty slow. We fished from the airport all the way back down to the 494 access along with about a thousand other guys. I didn’t think I’d find a parking spot in the lot at the 494 access! There were boats all over the river everywhere you looked. We never had a bump and never saw anyone else catch anything either, but what a day to be on the river!

There’s still a little bit of ice coming down here and there and there was a lot of wood in the water including some big stuff so keep your eyes open. Water temp was 37 degrees and it was muddy. Pretty good flow and the level was still normal or a little of the low side.

This was the first trip using the new Cortland hi-vis line I bought from Dean and I really like the stuff. It’s very strong, the knots pull up nicely, and it’s very well behaved when it’s cold.

The boat ran great….except the trolling motor battery was almost dead. When I got home I determined that the on-board charger had failed sometime this winter and wasn’t doing it’s job. So I’m in the market for one of those.

It sure felt good to be out in the boat again even if the fish weren’t cooperating!

Nice to meet you Root! The boys and I didn’t fair well either, but what a nice day to be out.

Goose egg for me on also. Fished 4 to 7:30 PM around the confluence down and around Lillydale.

Jig/minnow, jig/ringworm, jig/crawler – vertical and pitching did not produce.

Did not see any nets out either.

    Water was 36 degrees.

    Rootski,

I’m the guy you talked to at the landing prior to launching. We didn’t have any luck either. It was still an awsome time; it was nice to feel the sun while out in the boat.

no luck for us also. fished from 4:00 until dark from the damn to the confluence. Only saw a few crappies caught and one very small eye. 2 sherif boats were out.

Thanks Jason, just got back from there with a new charger! $35.00 for a 1.5 amp on board charger and I’m back in business.

GREAT trip for me on Saturday. Boat started and ran, all equipment operational, nothing broke, no lures lost, no jerks on the water, sun in my face, pleasant visit from the warden- no fish though.

I was also down there on Sat..only caught a couple small males up buy the damn..I stayed right on the current break and just let the jig sit down there…im guessing another week or two and it should pick up..I will say it was a lot better then sitting on the Ice…

Same results as Dave, minus a chat with a Warden, didn’t get a face to face chat, I know he checked my tabs, which were current (and brand spankin’ new) Nice shakedown trip.
