Here’s one that takes the cake, and had the potentual to put many fisherman in imminent danger !!!

The incident happened yesterday, Pool 14, Dam 13 at Clinton, IA. It was a 50degree day, 10mph winds, and approx. 30 + boats fishing from the rollers to 5miles down river. 12 noon, and the Corp. decides it’s time to clean the rollers out before setting them for the winter !!!!! WHAT HAPPENS !! Tons of trees, limbs, poles, and river debris come crashing out in a torrent and begins moving down river !!!

What where these guys thinking !@#$%^ On a day when there’s every kind of boat out, from 20′ Tyrees to the crazy guys in the 12’semi v, 5 miles up from the ramp ! Somebody could have been hurt. It takes less than a 15min swim in 30deg. water to kill ya. The Corp. should have waited for a bad weather day when nobody’s fishing IT’S A NO BRAINIER!

Ever wish you could call somebody !!!!

Too bad somebody didn’t have a video if that and send it in to the 6:00 news. They could have given a warning over the PA system. Jsut glad to hear no one got caught up in the mess.

Yikes!!!!!!!Glad you got out of there unharmed. I definately think someone should be contacted. I know they have a job to do, but common sense needs to come into play in a situation such as this. Keep dry!!!!!!

Hey kreading, I must have just missed ya up at the 13, maybe did see ya…Alumicraft and Mariner? I mentioned on another post that I ran into that mess at full throttle coming up river, in the area of the long wing north of Fulton. Scared the crap out of me. I swear the corp works at making life miserable for us fishermen, but I didn’t realize they had so little regard for our lives! There were some 15-20″ logs in that mess, 10-30 feet long. I am amazed no one was hurt. I’m filing an official complaint for what it is worth. (They’ll probably wrap it on a cardboard core and hang it in the visitors head.) What a pack of morons!

    kreading,

We pulled out 5 or 6 fish on the wings from the unloading station to up to the first marked wing on Illinois side. You must have cleaned most of them though, it was tough going and not great fish. One piggy on the flat between dams though. 26″ released mama eye!

Are you running Mariner on Alumacraft? I thought I saw a sticker on Alumacraft boat but did not get a chance for a closer look or a chat. Thought it was probably you. (May have been Yami too, it was gray and far away!)
