I think you need to back and read the post carefully. The people I called idiots are the people I personally witnessed last November running 60-70 mph in the dark, no lights, no spotter boat. One unseen boat wake away from crashing. In that post I assumed these were the same guys who crashed here. That assumption was incorrect. However, the fact remains I have said nothing about these 2 guys in this crash. Glad they made it out alive.

With CT on this one!…..best thing out there is 100% honesty and calling someone an idiot running in the dark with no lights ect. is nothing but the truth and needs to be said. So calling him out on that is a waste of time when there is 100 people out there thinking the same thing just not enough people out there that step up and say it like it is like Jon does!..that being said I am glad to see everyone came out of this alright and hope you guys heal up quickly.

Not that I would ever want to see anyone get hurt. And I am glad these two guys are ok. And If people could read they would see that john was not making any specific personal attacks. Saying all that, I have many times every year hoped that many lower units would be torn off of idiots boats that use the river to only screw around. And usually these people have little to no respect for anyone else. So I am also with jon here. Freedom of speech. Its a good thing. And idiots who rip there lower units off on the river because they are jacking around…..Also a good thing.

For the record, I have a one of ‘those’ boats, Jon. While I do not operate said craft in the manner to which you refer, we do apparently completely agree what constitutes an ‘idiot’ boat-operation wise. Although you and I may still disagree about boats, in general I do however, reserve the right to disagree that you should use the idiot button while carrying the Moderator Title.

So to summarize, you can call anyone an idiot or stupid as long as they are not a moderator or site sponsor.

Glad you guys are ok and a big thumbs up to the guys how rescued you. I hope you guys continue to tell this story, espceially to young kids and new boaters to help reinterate the importance of life jackets.

I can only speak for myself, but I know that I have stressed the importance of life jacket usage and proper boat operation everytime I have repeated this story so far, and will continue to do so everytime that it is called for. I feel the need to use this experience to help educate the inexperienced and remind the experienced, as accidents can happen very easily, as we both found out this past week.

Hey buddy, glad to here you will a strong proponent for water safety. Hard way to learn that lesson. Went to P2 yesterday and the tugboat operator came up and started telling us about a crash on the river. He said he thought the boat was brand new, then the crane operator called and said “watch this” as you guys were headed back to the bridge. He saw your boat fly up, flip over and come apart. Said he had never seen a boat come apart like that. Said he had saved several people over the years but his tug had a top speed of 4mph and didn’t think he could make it up to you in time. He was glad someone else was around ( He didn’t know it was us). He also said the gal in the suv was filming you guys, but I’am sure see could’t see you when you crashed. Yesterday we noticed how many people do not where lifejackets. Sure don’t want that experience again, it was as scary for as as it was for you.

Wow, we were both wondering how exactly the boat had crashed.

But like I had said previously, I rather use my experience to teach people rather than having them find out first hand. And I would not be suprised by the amount of people out there without life jackets, as being someone who previously included in this group, I can see how easily the thought can be overlooked.
