What have you found to work best for cutting superbraids such as Fireline or PowerPro?

I haven’t found any clippers that are made well enough to do the job cleanly. I’ve tried a couple pairs of compact Fiskar scissors and they usually work until they’re broke in a little and they’re done, but don’t even last a season.

Has anybody tried the scissors on the Leatherman Micra?

Though not as fancy as a Leatherman, I’ve found that a simple box cutter has worked very well….watch your fingers though!

I have never had a problem using fingernail clippers. Works well on Fireline and Power Pro.

I know a couple guys who use thier teeth!! Wow does that make me cringe!

Better trade that box cutter in for a fingernail clippers with the file removed if you are going to do any fly fishing.

I use the scissors on my gerber multi tool. Best thing I’ve found so far.

uffdapete, I bought a small pair of diagnals, about 4″, a couple years ago and they work just fine. Some people call em “dikes”.

Culprit makes a good pair of scissors. Used to call them Braid Blades.

I just use those little scissors with the orange handles that Fleet Farm sells [made by Stren?] for cutting braided lines. Work great!

I usually go with whatever’s closest………….scissors, clippers, multi-tool, anything but my teeth. I haven’t found a preference but I’ve found big honkin’ toe nail clippers work better than fingernail clippers and multi-tool scissors seem better than regular ones. But when all these give me fits, I go for DaveB’s torch! :O)

Thanks for all the input and ideas. The blowtorch is probably the most foolproof but perhaps not the best idea, in my hands. We’d be starting sequel to the boat ramp contest if the blowtorch idea took off!
